J.S. Logistics and Evonik focus on pioneering bio-LNG technology in heavy-duty transportation

Germany has the ambitious goal of being climate neutral by 2045. Companies in all industries are being called upon to adapt their processes and products and make them more sustainable. One of the industries undergoing enormous change is heavy-duty transport. And this is where J.S. Logistics and Evonik are stepping up as forward-looking companies.

Shared vision for environmental protection

On August 28, the two companies presented one of their bio-LNG trucks in Weiterstadt, Germany, with a new tarpaulin indicating the environmentally friendly biofuel.

The vehicle, branded with the slogan “100% Bio-Power,” emphasizes the environmental friendliness and sustainability of the project. This particular truck is fueled by liquefied biomethane, which is derived from bio-waste or certain crops – and does not compete with food crops.

Why Bio-LNG?

Bio-LNG (Bio Liquified Natural Gas) offers more than just environmental benefits. It produces significantly fewer emissions than conventional diesel. The truck produces 90% less nitrogen oxides, 99% less particulate matter and 86% less CO2. In addition, Bio-LNG is more cost-efficient while offering the same range as diesel. For all residents along the transport routes, there is an added bonus: This truck is 50% quieter than conventional diesel trucks.
